Adrian Foley, President and CEO of Brookfield Residential Properties, Development, will join a line-up of homebuilding business icons, legends-in-the-making, and rising-star business leaders who'll make up the program agenda of our Focus On Excellence leadership summit and workshop, Oct. 28-30, at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort in Austin, TX.

We're excited and honored that Adrian Foley will participate in the two-day hands-on leadership development workshop as a keynote speaker. His peers hold him in high regard – for the fearless forward thrust of his business leadership, the technology and data-enabled capability culture he has nurtured and secured traction for across the Brookfield Properties enterprise, and the straight-spoken sincerity he brings to the recognition that learning and discovery are leadership's only constants.

Few homebuilding leaders like Foley combine an unshakeable sense of the permanence of what people value in their homes – and their growing need for affordable, sustainable, resilient, and responsive houses – with the constancy and speed of change in nearly every facet of life and livelihood.

What Foley has stood for as Brookfield has evolved in the past decade-plus into one of North America's residential development leaders – both for new-home product development, sustainable and resilient placemaking, and community activation and engagement – is operationalized, high-performance teamwork, supported by shared, single-source-of-truth data that empowers collaboration and velocity.

For that reason, Adrian Foley's business leadership exemplifies both Focus On Excellence and Build Smarter, our companion conference being hosted by The Builder's Daily partner Constellation HomeBuilder Systems.

What's exciting as well is that while we'll have a line-up of homebuilding legends, like Adrian, anchoring our program, and exciting and timely keynotes from CNN/The Atlantic Political Analyst Ron Brownstein and author Cara Brookins, the heart and soul of the two days will be hands-on, facilitated leader-to-leader workshop sessions led by our partners at global business advisory firm Higher Echelon.

Leading those workshops, Dr. Donnie Horner, Dr. Angie Winter, and Dr. Eric Bean will lead our participants through workshops aimed at optimizing organizational performance to meet the rapidly changing, complex and often ambiguous requirements of today’s world.

To get a sense of what that means, here's a high-level framework of the interactive and hands-on approach Focus On Excellence participants will experience.

Dr. Donnie Horner

Customization and Client-Centric Approach

    • Interactive Engagement: Dr. Horner emphasizes a deeply personalized and interactive approach to the workshop. His goal is to engage participants in hands-on exercises that are tailored to the specific challenges and needs of the homebuilding leaders. By working directly with the group, he plans to facilitate discussions and activities that allow leaders to explore, debate, and refine strategies in real-time.
    • Edgy, High-Energy Presentations Combined with Active Participation: Horner’s sessions will go beyond traditional presentations by incorporating provocative discussions, real-world scenarios, and data-driven insights. He will challenge participants to think critically and work collaboratively on solutions they can implement within their organizations. This interactive format ensures that leaders leave the workshop with practical strategies ready to be implemented.

Focus on Strategic Context

    • Workshopping Strategic Solutions: Dr. Horner will guide leaders through exercises that connect these external forces to their internal strategies by providing a macro-level view of industry trends. Participants will engage in group work that helps them develop actionable plans to navigate the changes in the marketplace, ensuring that they can lead their teams effectively through evolving challenges.

Dr. Angie Winter

Building Resilience and High-Performance Mindsets

  • Interactive Techniques for Daily Leadership: Dr. Winter focuses on empowering leaders with practical tools to enhance resilience and maintain high performance. Her sessions are highly interactive, involving participants in exercises demonstrating how to apply these techniques in their daily routines. Leaders will practice these strategies in real time, ensuring they can return to their organizations with new skills that drive sustained performance.

Organizational Culture and Change Management

    • Hands-On Leadership Development: Winter will lead participants through workshopping sessions that focus on building resilient teams and shaping organizational culture. These sessions are designed to be highly interactive, with leaders collaborating to develop new techniques and leadership strategies that can be directly applied to their organizations. This hands-on approach ensures that participants leave the workshop equipped to foster a culture of adaptability and high performance within their teams.

Overall Value as Workshop Facilitators:

Horner, Winter, and Bean combine strategic insight, practical application, and interactive engagement as workshop facilitators. Their sessions are designed to inform and actively involve participants in workshopping ideas and solutions to drive durable high performance in their organizations.

By the end of the Focus On Excellence summit, leaders will be equipped with new techniques and strategies to be immediately implemented to build leadership teams for the future.
